Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

My dads down for the weekend so am putting some eggs by for him to take back. Had a glut but now down to 3 as I give my hairdresser some and was hoping for a full house of eggs today. However in the rush for mealworms one of my girls trampled on an egg rendering it unusable. For some reason someone had laid on the roosting bars. Honestly what are they like?

Hi, mine do that as well, I'm in and out to my hens all day as I'm scared they will squish an egg. They lay in the bars in the roosting area, rather than in the nestbox. Thankfully they've not laid in the actual run!!
