counturchickens
Hopefully everyone won't think I am completely crackers, but collected our new ex batts today, they are in a separate house and run, but from the moment they arrived the existing hens have been beside themselves! They have been walking up and down making a noise like seagulls! I gave them plenty of treats, but it seems like they are jealous! Is this normal when integrating new hens, and will they get over it?.
percy049
I'm sure our old girls were jealous when we got some more hens!
Lavenders_Blue
Yes it's totally normal They will quite likely honk for a few days to show their disapproval
counturchickens
Well, the noise has reduced, but the old hens are really sulking. There hasn't been any bullying, but when the newbies are out they try and keep out of their way. One has been laying softies could this be the stress?
