Woohoo Daisy is my second chicken to start laying eggs with her first today. She is a tenacious and mischievous character and made sure the whole neighbourhood heard her efforts. When she had finished she looked at me as if to say "well that wasn't much fun"

Thanks henslaved, she wants everyone to know and make a fuss of her as she is soooo clever, nothing less will do for her.

Good on you Daisy! Some of my hens make a right old song and dance about it every day, while others just get on with it. There's one black sussex hen which if the next box is in use when she wants to use it she clucks and shouts right in the doorway of the nest box, she's a right old bully, when I hear her I have to go and encourage her to leave the busy hen alone for a while...tit bits usually manage to take her mind off it for long enough!!

Even better news, Bluebell has laid her first egg this morning shortly after Daisy laid her second egg, once again making her song and dance about the whole affair. So I now have 3 of the 6 girls laying eggs. Every egg is as exciting as the first - or is that just me!!!! Also everytime I got to the WIR and cube I do a head count - is that normal?
