humidity

Recommended Posts

I have 10 eggs, in my incubator, I havent added any water and left the humidity alone.. and after 10 days the eggs seem to be doing excellently.. I thought I would try this because I have heard lots of people say it does work.. any ideas on this? :!:

It certainly worked for me. After reading posts on the forum, and asking loads of questions, I ran my incubator dry for the first 18 days and only put some water in it when I stopped turning the eggs on day 19.

7 out of 9 eggs hatched successfully. The other 2 are still in the incy on day 24. But I will candle them later to see what,if anything, is going on.

I should add that I have got the Brinsea Octagon 20 incubator. The instructions tell you to do things very differently, but I decided to follow the advice on here, and am glad I did.

I have the same incubator as you and last year I drove myself insane trying to keep the humidity levels stable.. this time I figure that all the up and downing of the humidity overnight etc.. would do more damage than good so im doing the same as you.. last year I got crooked feet etc im sure was due to all the ups and downs.. :|

If you read my recent posts about humidity problems during hatching, you will see the excellent advice I was given, and I won't worry about it so much next time. Apparently it is the average overall humidity which is important, and high humidity is more harmful than low.

I was so relieved that my 7 chicks appear to be healthy and physically ok, and hope all goes well for you this time.
