Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

CJ has developed a limp in the last couple of days (rescued saturday) checkedvfor bumble foot, but can't see any swelling. She's eating and drinking, so should I assume is just a sprain? Has this happened to anyone else with new ex batts? The are on ex batts layers mash, poultry spice and crushed egg shells.

It could be that she suddenly has space to move around and has strained it as they are quite fragile initially. If it's intermittent, she could have an egg pressing on a nerve which can cause temporary lameness. Hope she's okay

We have 6 ex-barn hens. Since we've had them the majority have had limps but have all recovered. We put it down to them not being used to the various obstacles they come up against in the space that they now have!

This is quite normal, all 4 of mine did it and all recovered, just limit her fring so she doesn't strain it further and take out the roosting bars if you haven't already. If it goes on for longer than a couple of weeks she may need some anti-inflammatories from the vet.

be4 aware please also that she "may" "may" have broken a bone too, also not un common, their poor wee bodies are so depleted of calcium that a fall can easily result in a break.

Just watch carefully and take her to a good vet if it looks like it might be a break if she is bruised Arnica gently rubbed on and or giving her a pill will help. Have a look see if you can see any bruising. good luck

Thanks all, will be keeping an eye on her
