ronnieroo
Kate is ex battery chicken -about 3 years old. I noticed yesterday her legs looked spread apart wider than usual and when I picked her up she seemed heavier than normal. I didn't think much about it - but today her legs appear about 6 inches apart and she is waddling like a duck. She is breathing heavy and stands for a while with her eyes shut. She also has alot of poo on her bottom (which is usually very clean!) Has she some kind of blockage? I'm very worried - not sure if she'll make it through the nigh and it's Sunday tomorrow so the vet's not open - although I'll ring as an emergency if she's still with us tomorrow. Hoping someone can help - thank you very much.
Plum
Poor thing it sounds like peritonitis where an egg is laid internally causing inflamation and a build up of fluid in the abdomen. The increased pressure causes problems breathing. There are several threads on here at the moment discussing treatment.
percy049
Yeah, sounds like pertonitis or some other egg-related problem. Best take her too the vet to she if they came feel anything, or prescribe antibiotics or something. shes okay
