Help with v poorly chicken please

Recommended Posts

Kate is ex battery chicken -about 3 years old. I noticed yesterday her legs looked spread apart wider than usual and when I picked her up she seemed heavier than normal. I didn't think much about it - but today her legs appear about 6 inches apart and she is waddling like a duck. She is breathing heavy and stands for a while with her eyes shut. She also has alot of poo on her bottom (which is usually very clean!)

Has she some kind of blockage? I'm very worried - not sure if she'll make it through the nigh and it's Sunday tomorrow so the vet's not open - although I'll ring as an emergency if she's still with us tomorrow.

Hoping someone can help - thank you very much.

Poor thing it sounds like peritonitis where an egg is laid internally causing inflamation and a build up of fluid in the abdomen. The increased pressure causes problems breathing. There are several threads on here at the moment discussing treatment. :(
