Unsecure chicken perches

I know there are lots of these questions, but here goes. We have 2 existing ex batts who are very healthy. We have had 3 new ones, 2 are very feisty but one is a bit more timid and at the bottom of the pecking order. When we let them out the 2 feisty ones have been scaring off the 2 older ones! There hasn't been any blood split, just some chasing. The OH thinks we should try putting the most timid one in with the 2 older ones, is this worth a try? We plan to have all 5 in the cube with an extended run in a couple of weeks anyway, but he reckons the 2 existing ones will be nicer to the timid newbie.

We've put of the merging idea, one of the existing ex batts has started laying softies, and I think has eaten an egg today. Got hold of some limestone flour and have been adding to feed. I am wondering if the stress of the newbies being around has caused this? The 2 older girls seem distinctly put out!
