I read with interest the stories of lost gardens.

I must have the laziest or best behaved chickens (depending on which way you look at it) as mine free range all day every day in a medium sized garden but I still have lawn, flower beds, pot plants and a pond area!!

I think it is because all mine do is eat and sleep in the sun, apart from picking the odd fight with the cats - which they always win.

On a different note I work in a hospital and yesterday some poor woman got admitted due to in juries from a cockerel attack!!!!

That's a bit scary, I know cockerels can be quite aggressive!

 

I still have a lawn, most of the time my chooks prefer to scratch around in the flower beds or under the trees, but also I limit free-ranging time (mainly because of my working hours) and that helps. I firmly believe that it's possible to have chickens AND a garden, and four years on the garden looks better than ever, thanks to the lovely compost and the absence of snails!
