joegg
Two months ago our cream legbar had an unfortunate accident with our dog, she had inadvertantly been shut out of the house at roosting time. In frustration at her not going to bed the dog picked her up by the scruff of the neck, chickens dont have much of a scruff - the skin tore and she required stitches. The following day she laid the first egg of the year, but since then she has only laid wind eggs - about two a week. She laid well last year about 6 eggs a week during the summer the wound has healed well and she has slotted back into the flock beautifully. Any ideas? Is it possible that the shock stopped her laying and she is just winding up to lay again or is something sinister going on?

Lavenders_Blue
I'd be interested to know if there's a reason why they suddenly start laying these little eggs. I've had the occasional pixie egg before now, but one of my girls has laid one every day for the last 3 days. I'm curious to know if there's a reason why this could have happened? KateCooke
Let me know if you get any answers. I bought 4 bantams last August, was told they were POL but i think they were tiny but 3 of them started laying over the winter, however the only thing i have had from my light sussex is wind eggs. They are just teh size of a 1p, and she prob also lays them about twice a week. I have no idea when I will get a proper egg, i have been waiting for months now!!!!
