the "posh chickens"

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd share this as i am a bit proud.....

We have our girls in our homemade WIR on our allotment, having never made anything in my life i was chuffed it even stood up, we then extended it a few weeks ago and have since put a nice corrugated plastic on.

We have then just had about 8 people on our plot admiring the new chicks and saying how fab our set up and that they are the "posh chickens" and that they are really well looked after and really healthy compared to the rest :-D

I know i am bragging a bit, but I have had my hens nearly a year now and from going from nothing to comments like that I am rather chuffed with myself and I wanted to say a big thank you to the omlet forum because if I had not come onto here and been able to get all the advice I could and keep up to date with other peoples problems and goings on, i don't think my girls would be half as good as they are.

So a big thanks to the omlet forum :-D xx

Maybe i am ready for the next step soon of hen parties lol... or maybe not... we shall see x

Thanks ..I did mean to write more about then but pressed submit too soon. I went up earlier to feed them some greens, they all have beak clips on or whatever they're called. They look odd, almost like bullrings very strange indeed but I hope they will do the trick for their sakes.

Really though thanks very much guys x

I think that one of the major benefits ( from the hens viewpoint) of being a forum member is that you hens are pretty much always on your mind. Accordingly it is more likely that your hens will be better looked after than those who are simply left to languish and are thrown a few handfulls of corn from time to time. :)

I know without a shadow of a doubt that my ladies are looked after like children this is probably due to picking up great hints'n'tips from the forum. :) The down side of course is that I spend so much time on the forum & looking after the hens that my house & kids are probably neglected (not really ) :) Alli xx

Well done Ste!   Hooray for Omlet power!

The poor other girls though :( Was there blood or an obvious bully? At least it's being taken care of with the bumper bits now

I also wondered if maybe they were just moulting, if there was more than one looking oven ready? My Columbine looked dreadful at Xmas - much worse than when we collected our BHWT girls! Glad no-one reported me to the RSPCA :?
