My ongoing campaign to persuade my OH that a WIR will not be be a complete eyesore in our smallish garden is really not going well, and we had "words" about it yesterday. He has told me to go ahead and order the Aviaries 4 U run I got a quote for, but I really don't want to steamroller him into this , and so I've come full circle, and am wondering about a Cube again. My complaint with my Classic is that fixed in a permanent spot, and not moved around its the very devil to clean out the run (and it's not a design fault, it's because we aren't using the run in the way in which it is intended). There is just that very small door. Additionally, my girls really don't get to free range very much during the winter months, what with short days and me at work full time, and far too much time at the weekends to be out in the garden with them for longer than half an hour, and having lost a hen to a fox whilst we were in and out of the house..so most of the winter they are confined to quarters. I only have two girls though, and so I'm thinking that the 2 m (possibly could squeeze in 3 m) run would be sufficient. My question is though, what is the door like? Can you open up the entire front of the run so that you can get right in it with (albeit folded up a bit?) with a rake? I've seen pictures of some door conversions on here previously, but it looks like the product used may no longer be available?

It's impossible to see exactly what the standard door looks like from the website pics :(

Sorry for the ramble.... thanks for reading.

I have 2 cubes - one with a run plus extension and one without any run. I only have the small door on the one with a run so have done the conversion where the whole front comes down. Very easy to do and it helps. But cleaning the run out still means lying on my front and/or crawling so I can get in the corners! I'm moving to a WIR soon as it should be easier to clean out, but I'll still keep the run as an extension/integration space. Personally although I love the cubes, I'd go for your original idea if ease of cleaning the run is the priority

I have a cube and 4 mtre run with the bigger door. It still does my back in and I end up crawling around or falling over the perches I have put in for them. If you already have a classic I would stick with that and attach to the out side of WIR but raised up. You will then be able to clean it out with ease and also gain access to the inside of the WIR via a door, or have it raised inside the WIR witch ever fits your needs. Or go for the Omlet run. You will save money by not buying a cube and design a state of the art WIR.
