snowberry
I forgot to mention that I use a retractable lead with the Halti; Akeira can walk at a slightly faster pace & I am still in control.
Eggasperated
does the dog pull as much on the way back from the field as he does on the way there Yes, he will do if he sees something exciting; one of his favourites is dashing in someones house if they open the door as we go past . We are having a lot more success with the head collar now and he is walking better generally - even OH, who doesn't use the head collar, thinks his general walking behavior has improved. I don't use a retractable lead with the head collar as I feel happier with him closer to me walking past houses and people, but it certainly seems to me that even when using a retractable lead on the ordinary neck collar he is better behaved. Thanks to everyone who suggested I persevere with the head collar .
The Dogmother
You may find it easier to control him when on an ordinary static lead.
