Not sure what to do! Help please

Recommended Posts

I got my new chickens yesterday and love them already. I have a Goldline and a Black Tail which are both 19 weeks. I also have two Neras which are 16 weeks. When we got them home we left them in the cube for an hour to settle in and then let them out into the 4 metre run. Almost immediately the Goldline and Black Tail came out with confidence. However, the two Neras didn't even attempt to come out and stayed firmed in the nesting box all day. I put some water and layers pellets in for them and left them to it. It was quite a hectic day and we have two bouncy dogs and next door had a party until late which must also have unsettled them. I have been watching them this morning and again the Goldline and Black Tail are coming up to me and are quite happy but when the Neras attempt to come out they are harrassed and run straight back up the ladder. I have put water in with them but no food as I am hoping this will tempt them out. Is it just that they are younger and less confident? Should I put food and water in the cube for them or will this just make it all last longer? The other two are clearly putting them in their place and I know there must be a heirarchy but I do feel sorry for the younger ones who only want to eat and drink!!! Any advice is welcomed. I feel like I did when I had my daughter, I have read all the books but now I am holding the baby for real :?!bee!!beehaus yellow!(cube green)GNR Henny Penny GNR Doris PP Layla PP Gloria

The Neras are getting bolder this afternoon and have ventured out a little. Still getting chased around and getting back into the cube. Hopefully things will settle down. I am already thinking of getting a walk in run to give them more space and to put some perches etc in. :D
