beach chick
I honestly think they're mad. its blazing hot here, full on sunshine. we have a 12' square walk-in run with green onduline roof - so very shadey, airflow all round. we have a 12sq m leccy fence, which includes one big tree and a parasol for shade. at least one third of this area is shaded by trees further away. so where are 2 of the 4 the ex-batts?? having a sauna - inside their temporary run, half of which is covered in tarps/sunshade it must be boiling in there! still, at least they're not getting sunburnt I suppose... they're quite happy, not hiding or anything. jimnpaula
I noticed today that my ex batts are the only ones not lifting their wings or panting, or at least they're doing it a lot less than the others. I can only think that they're more tolerant of the heat, having become accustomed to it 'inside'. P
beach chick
I think you are probably right, that hadn't even occurred to me
migsy
and perhaps a lack of feathers! My ex bats are loving the weather!
beach chick
its interesting though, I had to pick 2 of mine up off the grass just a few mins ago to put them into the WIR so I can be sure they are safe (fox around); and their bodies were SO hot, even at almost 9pm. I know when they are all snuggled up indoors together they can work up a real heat, but these little bald bodies, out in the dark... if I'd had infrared they'd have been glowing!!
