Noodle, my pied suffolk is showing signs of being broody, I think ... spending lots of time in the nest box and even letting me pick her up which she would NEVER normally do

Im fairly sure she's not poorly - she certainly doesn't look it, so I'm going to concentrate on not letting her sit in the nest box and hope she snaps out of it - think she might have a cold bath later too ...

does she make a noise that sounds like 'noooooooo' when you go near her when she's on the nest?

also, does she look like a feathery pancake, and if you do get her off the nest, does she run back fairly quickly?

If she does all that mentioned above, then i would say yes, shes broody. Dunking in cold water never worked for me. The best way is a broody cage, 3 days and nights in the cage and she should snap out of it

Thanks guys, but I think she's snapped herself out of it (with the help of a football in the nest box ) She was doing the "pancake thing" but didn't seem to be making any noise, so I think maybe she was having a 'phantom brood'!!
