yvonne
We have been trying to move for a while and it now looks likely that we will end up having to store about half our stuff for a while to break the dreaded "chain". Just wondered if anyone out there had any advice or do's/dont's in regard to using one of those storage facilities you see everywhere these days. We are likely to need one in the Swindon area but any advice/views would be most welcome. Many Thanks
Redwing
I did this before I moved too I used Big Yellow, they were very good. The introduction offers were a bit of a con but as we used it for 6 months it wasnt a problem as we still saved overall We had a small unit and stacked it up to the roof, you can fit more in them than you'd imagine! We paid for out of hours access which was well worth it so we could go when it was quiet (though its a little un-nerving) and also get access when we realised last minute that we needed stuff we had packed
dottyhen
Hi Yvonne We stored half our stuff in Lok n Store for 6 months whilst we moved to new house which was having building works done (big mistake in itself!!) Biggest tip I can offer is look at what you want to store and assess if you REALLY need to keep it - we stored our stuff for 6 months - cost £1K - then took it out and took most of it down the tip!!! Lok n Store don't open Sundays (or didn't used to) so ifyou need access then cld be a problem! Also play them off against each other - tell one you've got it cheaper than the other one etc!! Good luck Alison PS -we are also in Swindon area

Seagazer
We used Big Yellow for about 6 months whilst we were having a big (only in the fact they took the back of the house off ) extension. It was handy at the time as it was on the way to OH's work and he could pop stuff in and out. I was amazed at how much we managed to put in a fairly small space. yvonne
Thanks so much for your replies - think we will drive out one weekend and have a look at the ones in the area. I feel a lot of lovely lists coming on - what to store/what to move/what to dump etc ...
