migsy
All of my ladies are about 18 months old and I think that they all lay but I suspect one of my ex batts does not lay very often. Today I got a perfectly formed egg which was the size of a quail's egg. Does anyone know why an 18 month old hen would lay such a mini egg? The Dogmother
It's not uncommon (known as a wind egg or cock's egg) and is formed around some grit which has found its way into the oviduct. Doubtless one of the mods will be along in a moment to put this thread in the right section.
migsy
Thanks Claret! I'd forgotten about those "wind" eggs.
