lougarbard
Well my pekin chicks turned 8 weeks, I managed to sell a trio and give away a couple of boys, so just left with one, but he is very cute, and very mature already, very different to the 'random chicks' I hatched last year, so not doing much in the way of attempted re-homing this week. I have entered one of my hens into a local show, and thought as i was entering a hen that I had just as well enter some egg classes too! lol - I have never done any showing before, so big learning curve! Borrowed an incubator from a friend and had 20 eggs (for £3.50!) (mixed Pekins) , candled twice and have only discarded 3 ! Blimey! Aqquired a black pekin Frizzle, who is so cute, but doesnt want to go in her bed at night, but instead sits on my chair or lap or even cardboard recycling bag!! Had a practice bath of 'show' chicken, who surprisingly loved it, and she looked lovely after! Real bath tomorrow or Fri, then confined to pen rather than f/r - poor her, dont think she will be too happy. Last years broody, has gone broody again (she did a while ago, but I managed to put her off), so today I have bought a large rabbit hutch off E bay and she is sat in there quite happy on her dummy eggs waiting for real ones tomorrow. Err, what else??? LOL My husband and kids think I am a fruitcake! I dont think he was too impressed that i went and got 'another' hutch today, but he was good, didnt say much! lol But really cant fit any more in, the new hutch has gone up in my 'veg' area! But only having limited success with the vegetables, so quite happy to settle in a few more up there!!! lolol Have now enetered another show the week after, so should be fun! i am not expecting any results, but I am sure it will be fun. jennym
Wow, you have been busy! Is that show-hen at the bottom? She looks great. Can't believe she enjoyed the bath - does she like being picked up/cuddled/mauled? Can't imagine mine would be too impressed, they're a bit stand-offish Best of luck at the show, and have fun! Chortle Chook
What are your two girls here called? The little black frizzle seems to be having a contented snooze whereas your other girl (buff Sussex??) is looking as if she would like to see herself in a mirror. She is quite stunning! Good luck with the competition
