you know the roosting bars in the eglu are you supposed to put straw or hay over as padding? because i dont think sleeping on wooden poles would be very comfy. is this what chickens like?

Since we bought two new hens (purebreds) to keep Miss Pepperpot happy after her companion died, she has taken to roosting on the branch of a tree at night. Sometimes they are all asleep on the same branch! We are tempted to leave them them, but we usually take them off and put them in the run. Sleeping on a branch doesn't look at all comfy but they seem to prefer it! At any rate, they don't like being moved, unless they are fast asleep, when they don't seem to notice!
