Green Tea
A couple of weeks ago there was fresh blood on poo in the chick run, it was bright red and was 'on' the poo rather than in it - very distinctive. I treated both chicks with Coxoid for a week. Now I find the odd poo (not many) with blood in, but it looks more like the pictures I've seen of intestinal shedding rather than what was there before...........is this normal for 8wk old chicks? The chicks don't (and never have) seem unhealthy in any way, they are both growing well, energetic, good feathers, bright red combs, eating and drinking well etc. TIA, Sarah

Jools
Gosh, that's pretty unusual Sarah. Shedding the gut lining in growers is perfectly normal though and yes it can be scary the first time you see it. I'd go further and say that every year it takes me by surprise when I encounter the first one, then I remember!
Green Tea
I guess the two things probably weren't connected then ...... but glad I was worried or I might not have spotted the worm! Ta, Sarah
