Anyone bought from J.A.R.M.'s Poultry

Recommended Posts

We are thinking of increasing our flock, again. Found a link on another forum to J.A.R.M.'s Poultry and as they are in Little Missenden it's not too far for us to get there. Hoping to get a light sussex and a couple of others. However have not heard anything about them and wondered if anyone has bought any girls from there and if so were they happy with them :?:

No, but would be interested if anyone else has as its local to us too, the farm produce looks good too.

Well will let you know what they are like, hoping to get up there this weekend, as long as we can sort out the living arrangements as right now we have our current flock divided due to some feather pecking and broodiness :?

A couple of years ago I bought a copper Maran, a Silver Laced Wyandotte bantam and two silkies from here. The silkies only lasted a couple of weeks, but I've only just lost my Wyandotte (she was a little bit strange, slept with her head upside down and would often lose her balance) but my Maran is brilliant, lays me an egg everyday and is my top chook of 18! So it's a bit hit and miss really. He does have an excellent range of breeds though, so definitely worth a look!

I prefer Bray Field Farm between Maidenhead and Windsor - http://www.farmshopwindsor.co.uk/, although they tend to have more choice in bantams than chickens.

I'd be gutted if we bought some from there and lost any of them within a couple of weeks. We bought our pure breeds from Mini Meadows last year but they don't do the Silver Laced Wyandottes and there was a thread on here about them buying in hens to sell, which kind of put me off a bit too. Guess we will just have to see how they are there, but to be honest not too sure how to tell if they are healthy or not :?

Do you want large fowl or bantams, if bantams could help with wyandottes :D

I would love to have bantams but our other 7 girls are all LF and I have read it's not good to keep them together :?

I think the bantams are just so cute and lovely, if only I had room for some :(

Well having bought 2 hens from this place I don't think I would recommend them to anyone. OH phoned before leaving on Saturday morning and they said they had the Silver Laced Wyandotte and the Bluebelle in stock. When he arrived he was met by a boy of 14 who was on his own and had no idea what any of the breeds were or their ages. OH found the Silver Laced Wyandotte but there were no Bluebelles, which is why he came home with what he thought was a Gold Laced Wyandotte, which we now believe is either a Hamburg, Old English Pheasant Hen, or a mix of both. Have tried so many times since we got them home to find out how old they both are, but the guy hasn't returned our calls and the person who is answering the phone just makes excuses as to why he isn't available. I get the distinct impression that they just buy stock in and sell it on, which isn't the impression they give when you talk to them. We got our other 2 hybrids at another breeders where they really seemed far more knowledgeable and helpful.
