Tricky Posted July 22, 2011 Share Posted July 22, 2011 I noticed my Bluebelle limping a few weeks ago,quite badly.like you I had a good look and found no obvious signs of injury.It gradually got better and eventually returned to normal after a week or so. That was a few weeks ago.Last week same again and I think I have the answer I think she is getting her foot between the bars inside the eglu and just twisting "her ankle" or something like that.I noticed she was fine when they went to bed and limping when she came out so I can't think it can be anything else. vickichicky Posted July 22, 2011 Share Posted July 22, 2011 I had a Black/dark sussex that limped intermittently from the day I got her. After spending over £100 on x-rays at the vets who found nothing wrong, the vets said they suspected a kidney problem. Apparently the kidney presses on a nerve that runs down the leg. Unfortunately it got worse and she died 2 months after I got her I don't mean to alarm you or put a damper on it - as it may be nothing like this, but this has been my only experience of limping. Lets not expect the worse & hope it is something less extreme. My Speckled Sussex baby boy kevin twisted his ankle a couple of weeks ago - somehow got it caught between the house and the ramp. I was in the shed doing their breakfast and heard horrible squawks and crying. Found him on his side with leg at a funny angle. I managed to free him and he limped off and tucked it up underneath him. He limped until the evening before recovering (and is now fine).
