CluckyBucks
Afternoon everybody I am going away for a week and leaving my step-dad in charge of my chickens. I am currently writing a step-by-step guide on what to do whilst i am away, can anybody think of any useful points i could add? I have already included topping up food/water, closing the eglu door, and what times to shut them in and let them out. If anybody has any advice about keeping them extra safe whilst i am away, or how to make food last longer, please let me know Thankyou. xx xx
Ain't Nobody Here
Unless your step-dad lives really close by, I wouldn't bother shutting them in the eglu at night. They'll put themselves to bed. If you have a fox problem, I suppose that might not work though. Before you go, make sure your feeders are secure (so the girls can't knock them down) and ask him to throw in some fruit and/or veg daily to keep them entertained. If you have a chicken-friendly local vet, leave their number with him (or the number of a friend who knows about chickens), just in case. Don't forget to tell him to collect the eggs . Have a lovely holiday and don't worry, they'll be fine .

KimmyCustard
Me too! I'm currently working in Scotland for the next 2 weeks and DH has been given a list a mile long as to what he needs to do and when! Regular texts for reminders for extra water when its hot would be good as well, just in case......
CluckyBucks
I think the 'extra texts' would be very helpful xx xx
