Does this poo look normal, bit worried

Recommended Posts

Sorry to be posting again so quickly, but just worried about our new girl of undetermined breed. Noticed her poos are quite runny and haven't seen her do any really solid ones, although obviously haven't spent a great deal of time looking at them. I am mainly concerned as not confident about the alleged immunisations the hens have had and don't want to risk the others being affected.

Sorry I cant see any pics as I am on my work computer

Runny poos are quite common in new chickens, some take more kindly to being moved than others

Chances are they havent had any injections, its very rare for pure breeds to have them (though not out of the question) this however tends not to cause any problems for the bird, not a single one of mine is vaccinated and most pure breed breeders will say the same

Looks like a bit of caecal poo in there to me. I take it that you've wormed all the newbies...?

I'd worm them and put them on the exclusion diet; just pellets, water with ACV in and once a day give them a bowl of natural live yoghurt with Bokashi Bran in it. That usually sorts out any runny bums.

Yeah there is some caecal poo in there, I blame my OH for not finding a more suitable poo to take a pic of

We haven't wormed them yet, didn't realise they would need worming straight away. I do have a bag of the marriage pellets with the flubenvet, but I'm not sure how old the new girls are so they are going to be on growers pellets for a bit. Guess I will have to use up the rest of the Flubenvet powder I have and maybe worm all 11 of them. That should be fun
