Morehens disease has stuck again after 2 years! pics added

Recommended Posts

About 3 weeks ago we merged our 2 old ladies with our 5 two year olds, they have been free ranging together for a couple of years and it all went pretty well, so we decided to get 4 new ladies to lay us some lovely eggs in our now empty Eglu and 1m run extension.

Today we went to Newland Grange near Malvern and bought a Speckledy, a Copper Black (not sure if these are similar to Pepperpots) a Silver Sussex and a white Sussex. We haven't named them yet, we are going to get to know them first. It is a lovely place with loads of Eglus for hen boarding. The pullets are all in a couple of large enclosures, I have never seen chicken housing and runs so clean :D It seems to be helping that these girls have all come from the same flock that have been brought up together.

We spent the usual half an hour this evening putting them to bed in the Eglu because they didn't know where to go and were pacing up and down trying to work out how to getout of the run and into our nice big shed like theirs at home had been (our Summerhouse) We had to get them into the Eglu one at a time then transfer them to a pet carrier then when we had caught them all we put the 3 that were in the pet carrier in through the egg hatch one at a time.

They are about 17 weeks old and in lovely condition, we got caught in traffic on the way back with them so they were in the car for 1 1/4 hours, but they were soon scatching about in the run and looked really happy after their siesta. :D

Photos when they have settled in :D

The best I managed as a group photo and the only one with the Silver Sussex, she looks the oldest of the group she has large red wattles and her comb has more colour too. they are all supposed to be 17 weeks.

Copper Black, she is a very handsome bird. She looks the youngest, she still has fluffy feathers on her back where her tail starts.
