egglicious
I have a tiny, and I mean tiny black silkie chick in my new flock. She (I say she with lots of hope) REALLY hates it when I pick her up. She screams and won't eat the treats I offer her. I love her because even though she is so tiny and I was kind of worried about her at first, she is a real s"Ooops, word censored!"py little thing and is thriving. I don't want to scare her so much so I end up handling the other tamer chicks more. Do you think she will always be this way or could her personality change as she ages? I have always heard how sweet and friendly silkies are but the two I have are kind of skittish, especially when compared to the sweet little frizzles I have! Redwing
If it really hates it I'd probably leave it for now and just try to get near her and feed her some treats - as she learns to trust having you close then she will probably be easier to tame Handling her when she is sleepy is an option, they are usually a lot quieter
egglicious
Well I was prepared to take your advice redwing but today she didn't seem to hate me. In fact, she was quite happy to take dried mealworms directly out of my hand and run like mad around the brooder! So funny. She was calm so I picked her up and lo and behold she did not scream. Guess she doesn't hate my guts afterall!!
Redwing
good news, it doesnt take them long to realise where the food comes from!
