Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you hen is not well. It may be that she has another softie on the way. However, if she keeps on with not eating then she needs to see a vet really.

Since this is weekend, it may be a good idea for you to do the health check here, and post what you find. I'm sure somebody would be happy to give more advice.

As Alet_Chicken said, if she's not eating then you really do need to get her to a vet ASAP. There is a list of chicken friendly vets here and here and here. There are a few in Manchester.

EDIT: I've just realised that you said that your hen is 17 weeks old and has been laying for a few weeks. This in itself is a bit of a cause for concern, as hens usually only begin to lay aged around 18-20 weeks.

Hope you can get her sorted out soon :)

Yes she started at 15 wks I bought the 3 of them at 5 days old the other 2 aren't laying yet but the other hybrid has started to drop her wings and freeze so I can fuss her ( my interpretation of why she does it ) I think maybe grass she's brought 1 piece up and seemed a bit better but still not right been sick couple times since but didn't want to stay in house wanted to go out into her own bed very smelly though of rotten egg butties ! Want to take her to vet tonight but not open till

Morning

Thankyou all for helping maisy has been to the vet on a few occasions now and has been discharged unsure at first if an egg was stuck or burst but thankfully not it was a crop impaction it seems wanted to use anasthetic but unsure if maisy would cope as underweight .Gave injection antibiotic plus some for me to give which was quite easy. I tried to help her bring anything up got a couple of strings of grass on day 4 she gave us an elastic band! She seems to be ok now just underweight tried to put her back but they flew at her! I want to reclaim my bathroom! ( temp hospital room) thNkyou all
