Everhot Cooker

Recommended Posts

hi there,

I brought the Everhot 90 last year, it was last turned on in December to cook xmas dinner, since them I use the micro. for most of my cooking!, they look great but cost around £10.00 a week to run and thats on eco mode so not the cheapest to run,

I think Aga have brought out an all electric aga, its still around £5k. but worth having a look at, also forgot to say the covers scratch really easily so I had to buy an airer to go over the top of the large cover and a trivet over the other one. It look the part but just dont cook on it!!.

I am in Herts if your ever in the area you are welcome to come in and have a look at it.

regards,

marti

Thanks for your reply.

At £10 a week thats about a third of what my Aga is costing to run (it does need a service though) I won't buy another Aga product nor from any of their MANY other brands. They have left us with no cooker nor hot water for over a month. I have no other cooker and don't use microwaves for food. TBH we are running it but have been told its condemned, so need to replace it.

Can I ask why you don't use it, do you feel £10 a week is too much? Have you used a heat storage cooker before how did it compare?

Sorry for all the questions, its just good to speak to a fellow Omleteer who will tell it like it is. Thanks

No experience of Everhot, but we're looking at getting an Aga-type range if and when we move. We've so far found Esse as a viable Aga alternative, so are looking around to see if anyone's got any experience of them. I'm posting it here, since I'm guessing any Aga alternatives would be of interest to you.

thanks for that pointer, just had a quick look. OH doesn't want solid fuel, we are hoping to not use oil (due to price fluctuations) so hoping for electric. The Esse range has conventional ovens and I would like to have stored heat system. I thought they only did solid fuel  I've obviously not done enough research, did you come across any others?

I've got an Esse (CAT version so no flue needed). I believe (don't quote me) it has a larger oven capacity than the same size Aga. I love it and it cooks fantastically, but I suspect it is expensive to run. Because of that, I only have it on for regular cooking in the winter and mainly just for baking in the summer. If they'd had the wood-burning model when I bought mine, I would have got that rather than gas, even though it would mean a flue.

Sorry I have no experience of Everhot, but ruled it out as I didn't like the look of the large, single lid. Just personal choice.

I had an Esse electric model and it was great. Plenty of oven space too. Where we are now we have a solid fuel Rayburn Royale which is great for heating the cottage but I've only ever managed to get it hot and stay hot to cook on it twice in 18 months. I use an electric cooker for cooking. Dont know what i'm doing wrong with the rayburn but i've been so disappointed as i had always wanted one.

aahh solid fuel. Described to us as like having a puppy. you never know quite what its up too, needs regular attention and encouragement, makes a mess but can be rewarding and good company

Very true  - but very reassuring, as long as you have space to store plenty of wood.
