Crisis Narrowly Averted

Recommended Posts

Had a bit of a nsty experience on Sunday. My little girls were happily pootling around in the garden FRing when we heard an almighty dog furore going on in our back garden. It transpired that a neighbour had been walking her wired terrier off the lead in our culdesac when he caught wind of one of our cats and chased it into our back garden. Thankfully my OH had put the 'chicken gate' up alonside our house (a six foor by 3 foot wire meshed panel to stop the girls from wandering into the front garden) which had prevented the dog getting into our garden and loose amonst our girls which would have been disaterous as the dog didnt look like he was in the mood for playing

It was a very valuable lesson to us that no matter how quiet your garden may be and how safe you think your girls are there is alwyas something that can go wrong. I dont laways think to put the chicken gate up when I let them out but I sure as damn will now as it left us feeling very shellshocked (and extremely grateful).

Glad your chooks were OK - I agree about it's never as safe as you think - our chickens escaped the other evening out of a gate which I thought was secure and they wandered down the road without us knowing! Fortunately there was no harm done but we learnt a lesson too.
