Omlet cube and run

We have had our three ex batts for 4 months, one doesn't lay, one often lays softies and the other lays eggs with good shells.

 

Last week we found lots of broken shells in the nest.

 

They are now eating not only the softies but any eggs even if they have a good hard shell.

 

HELP

 

Any ideas how I can stop this, they are in the eglu and eglu run. They are lovely girls and I am thrilled that they have got a 'second' life but I would like the odd egg from them, rather than them eating them all

Hi

My Ex batts went through a phase of doing this. I put a plastic egg in the nesting box. It work for my girls, they only eat softies now.

I have put a couple of the pretend eggs into the nest and for the last two days I have had two eggs out of the eglu, I hope this continues.

 

Interestingly as soon as I put them in Agatha (who doesn't lay) went straight in and started to peck at them
