squiffs
I am pleased, but am less than pleased with Birmingham at the minute as the accommodation I've been allocated is £900 more than I was budgeting for... Where are they putting you? Mason? Tennis Courts were the best value by far. They want to put me at The Beeches, which isn't even owned by the university and is private. Hence I'm unimpressed. I have phoned them and I either have 7 days from actually getting the offer or they are seeing if anyone cancels. Either way my budget is scuppered. Yeah I've had friends at The Beeches. What I found odd was that in my first year a mature student who lived in Birmingham was given a room in our flat in Tennis Courts, she left because we were 'too noisy' during freshers week (read: we went out on freshers nights and she stayed at home) - then the new girl that eventually replaced her had been COMMUTING from Derby every day as there were no places in accommodation! That's ridiculous. The allocation process there has always been as such. I've had friends at pretty much every hall, private and university owned, all I can say is stay away from IQ5, liberty court and jarratt halls. They're hellish! Which accommodation preferences did you put down?
lilybetbee
Just been to buy student essentials at Ikea today - full of people doing the same. I've bought each of them new quilts to take away so they don't wreck the good down ones when they are away so each summer the house is full of quilts pillows and towels when everyone is home. I have spent the entire summer hoping the stuff stacked in our hallway would make it to the loft...it did about a couple weeks ago!...but now it's all got to come out again for an inventory....
