chuckmum6
My growers MoneyPenny and Daisy have been in with the big girls now for four days. They have been moved out of their Eglu into the cube to make way for the next hatch due this weekend. The first two nights they needed catching and putting in the cube, as they were trying to roost on the top of it. Last night they were standing under the cube and jumping up at the base - banging their heads! I finally left them to it in the cube train (the other hens weren't to welcoming) so whether they went to bed properly or rooster on the many perches in the train I don't know. Anyway, tonight they were the first into the cube and took themselves to bed 10 minutes ago, whether they will stay in there when the others go to bed will be interesting, but it is all progress! Plum
Made me laugh - them jumping up under the base of the cube. Mine did that and knew it was time for them to go together How did they get on?
chuckmum6
I have a deadly duo who lurk around the cube entrance trying to keep the growers out for a bit at night! One hen stands at the top of the ladder while the other chases them away from the cube itself. They do give up eventually and go in, the growers sneak in after, unless they hid in the nest box, which one did yesterday. All in all there has only been the odd feather pulled out. The grower keep their distance and the others tolerate them, they are getting there, the afore mentioned duo, just want to make it clear where they stand in the pecking order - right at the bottom!
