I've been reading up and I think one of my hens might have this. She has a white discharge from her vent. It isn't smelly, but there is plenty of it. I'd be glad of any advice.

If it doesn't smell it may be urates. Vet told me they make more following an infection. Any other signs?

If she has vent gleet (a yeast infection) then the smell is unmistakable.

 

As Plum has said she may have another infection, but then a little white discharge isn't unusual in older hens.

Hi again. Thank you for replying.

It just smells of ammonia. She is going about her business in a lively sort of way, but I'm pretty sure that she is no longer laying. I guess I'll have to see what happens. Is the urates situation likely to be ongoing do you think or is there something I can give her to help her get over it?
