Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

We're looking to get some "top up girls" for our flock. Usually we go to Churchmans at Faversham - Mary's really good and the POLs are kept under cover so don't have contact with wild birds etc, until new owners take them home.

 

We fancied a change but are cagey about buying elsewhere. So far we've escaped red mite etc. and are aware that once introduced to the home nvironment "pests" can be so hard to eradicte.

 

Has anyone bought from Hen House Poultry at Teston? What's the experience been like? They sound okay, but recommendation is such a reassurance.

I brought from Ben last year.

 

His hens were all in fantastic condition and well kept. He certainly know's his stuff where his birds are concerned and I would recommend him to anyone!

i would certainly recommend Ben at Hen House,some of our girls came from him.

We saw a good selection in nice conditions and found Ben to be helpfull.

Haven't bought from Ben, but have spoken to him (was going to buy, but he ran out of what we wanted before I could get there), and he was very helpful, and I know he's got a great reputation locally for good quality birds

Went to see HHP & Ben on Wednesday to have a look at his POLs.

 

Wow!! What a setup! Lovely, lovely girls. Definately going there in a few weeks to get a pair. We were very disciplined and DID NOT give in & get any then, despite one POL coming up to the netting to check us out and be friendly - she was soooo cute!

 

He's just had a batch in so there's lots of choice at the moment. We'll definately get 2 girls out of: bluebell, blacktail, black. We don't want to replace Koukoula till next year, too soon after losing her, but we'll get another Light sussex when we do our next batch in June (ish).

 

Excited about getting some more now - it will bring us up to 5 girls.
