Redwing
They are very nice, Marans bantams can be on the large side and can be a bit more active than other heavy breeds
Chicken Kitty
Thanks Redwing How would they compare, size wise, to Sussex bantams?
Redwing
They are a little taller and generally a bit more bulky, they cant seem to get the size down to 'proper' bantam size
Chicken Kitty
Thank you....What are they like temperament wise?
Jools
I started with a couple of Marans bantams and have always had at least one since. Mine originated from a great egg laying strain and I wouldn't be without them now. They not prone to broodiness, lay a very regular supply of dark brown eggs and are very chatty and friendly. I keep Sussex bantams too (Light and Silver) and I have to say that mine are all of a similar size. This is the only photo I can find with some of them in the same photo. It's Dixie is on the right with Sylv (Silver/Light Sussex x) and Sylvio (Silver Sussex) behind. Hope this helps.
