Charlottechicken
Just a warning here, I have an interest in comfrey after seeing it growing in abundence in North Yorkshire as a child: I have an RHS herb book, and it states that comfrey is subject to legal restrictions in some countries, the alkaloids in it have been found to cause liver damage and tumours in lab conditions. The book states that you should not self medicate with comfrey on a regular basis with tablets or supplements (if you can get hold of them!) I believe older herb books do not contain this information as it is a recent find, indeed, I have a National Trust herb book from 1990 which states all sorts of culinary uses for comfrey It is an interesting plant though, and makes a perfect fertiliser! Lesley
- I've been using Comfrey (very occasionally!) for years! - mostly as a fertiliser. Thanks for the extra info.
