tixy
Henrietta has not been herself for a few weeks. she has been quieter fluffed up and now her red bits on her head and neck have faded to a pale colour today. she is staying in the run today and keeps shutting her eyes. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong or what I can do to help.
Egghead68
Oh dear. How old is she? Can you get her to a vet?
tixy
Hi had her from omlet 2 years ago last April. Im not sure if there are any vets that deal with hens locally
Egghead68
Might be best to keep her in the warm and make sure she has easy access to food and water. There should be a list of chicken friendly vets on this site.

Egghead68
Well, I can only suggest taking her to the vet even if they don't specialise in chickens (some keep chickens as pets themselves). Fingers crossed for her. Hopefully someone else will be able to help more.
tixy
Mangaged to examine her breathing seems ok, she is very very thin under the feathers you can feel the wishbone well, she may have diarrhoea as its round her vent and feathers. Egghead68
I'd bring her in for a bit in a catbox or something and keep trying for a vet. Hope she picks up.
Plum
Any vet will check her over and give antibiotics if necessary. It could well be worms if its taken her a couple of weeks to be like this. Flubenvet or similar will kill them. Have you checked the house at night for redmite that will drag a chicken down quickly and often only one hen to begin with who roosts nearest them. Please go to any vet. It's not fair on a hen who's been suffering for two weeks not to get help. Good luck, I hope it's something that can be treated quickly.
