NFMC
So - I've had an eglu for all of a week and I'm getting the hang of it. But, I am amazed at how much poo my three chickens produce. I think they do more than I do! I had read before getting my kit that I'd have to empty the tray once a week and clean it properly once every four weeks. Well, I'm cleaning the tray almost daily due to the amount of poo that they do (though they do free range most of the day) and have given it a good clean today (so after one week). What do other people do? Am I on the right track?
SteveC
Hi there! If you put some aubiose (or similar) into the poo tray then it will absorb some of the moisture and reduce odour - then you should be able to clean it out less frequently. I have 4 girls in an Eglu and generally aim to clean out twice a week - but it can go a whole week without too much concern. Hope that helps! Plum
I empty the dropping tray alternate days or daily when hot and wash down weekly - so same as you. I put newspaper in the tray which makes it slip off easier
