I have read many articles, some say go wood chip, which i'm finding it incredibly hard to source (as b&q seem to have stopped doing it)

On the other hand, lots of people seem to use bark chippings, which i could easily find!!

The girls are currently in mud, but we're putting some paving under thier run and then putting wood chips or bark on top of that.

They've also got a nice new see through run cover from the omlet shop so they are dry in the rubbish weather.

Whats your thoughts/experiances with the wood chip/bark chip situation?

Thanks,

:P

Hi, I'm afraid that bark is not really suitable as it contains spores which can be harmful to the chooks. I have always used wood chip and found it to be excellent - I got it online from Flytesofancy, and although the delivery charge is pretty steep I have found it to be worth the cost as it lasts for such a long time.

Have you thought of using horse bedding such as Hemcore or Aubiose - as long as you can keep it dry, it is great on slabs, easy to clean out and it composts very well.
