What is the highest number of eggs you've had from one hen in a day?

 

Five or six times this year we've had two eggs from one hen, I know it must be two from one hen because we got more eggs than we have hens!

They always have a thin shell, a couple have broken in the nesting box, but the ones I managed to get into the house we've eaten. They are usually extra large too, two 90g eggs from one hen in one day!

 

If we do get them we eat them on the day because I doubt they have much protection from infection with such thin shells.

It doesn't appear to be that uncommon for a hen to lay 2 eggs in a day. Like you say, though, they tend to be a bit below par!

I was thinking if I've had 2 in my first year of having chickens, somebody somewhere must have had 3?
