PastyFace
Hi, We have three hens that are the most pampered in Ireland. Their wooden house has become very creeky and leaky after the Irish Summer/Autumn (we don't have seasons, just a really long November). As a result, we are going to buy an Eglu. What would users recommend as being the best way to get them used to the new coop as quickly and painlessly (for them) as possible. Thanks in advance. Stephen. Redwing
Place the Eglu where the old coop was and totally remove the old coop or put it out of sight They should cope ok then Congratulations on your new Eglu
PastyFace
Thanks for that. We don't want to stress the ladies too much. Your avatar reminds me of one our hens, Hattie. We call her sometimes refer to her as Henzilla as nothing is safe around her.
Egluntyne
I'd also confine them to the new run for a few days so that they get used to it more quickly.
PastyFace
I had thought that confining them to the run (we're getting a 2m plus extension) will give them a "no option but to go in" boost. Thanks for confirming that.
cyclonetog
I did this last weekend. Moved the old coop at least 6 feet away, it's still there. Had to show them in for the first night, second night they were in before I went to check if they had gone. Mine FR all day every day, no issues, no stress, no problem, haven't missed an egg yet.
