abwsco
OK, not proper upholstery as such but I'm going to recover our dining room chairs as they are manky. DH wanted to throw them out but I had a brain wave and we can get the whole seating section off. Have whizzed to Dunelm and got another pair of curatins in the sale so my chairs will match the curtains. However, I don't have a sewing machine so how can I stop the material fraying Would I be best using wonderweb or buying pinking shears. Did have my late Mum's but I've no idea where they are Hand sewings out due to it setting off my neck and shoulder problems. Thanks
miffy
Copydex....springs to mind...my Dad used it for everything....it dries clear, I guess they still make it, certainly worth checking out. When I did 2 chairs I bought a nail gun....bit scary though had to get YS to do it. Good luck
abwsco
Thanks Miffy Will look for Copydex plus we already have a staple gun so can use that.
bluekarin
Use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the seat pads and then get another square piece of fabric for the underside to cover the raw edges. Fold a fabric seam under and staple on and you get a nice clean finish
abwsco
Oh, thanks blukarin It's at times like this i really miss my Mum and Auntie as they were dressmakers and upholsterers. It's surprising what I've forgotten. Oh, and my Mum was also a qualified pastry chef.
