Wernlas - only just discovered they have ceased trading

Recommended Posts

I think my three-year-old French maran is succumbing to heart disease so I thought I'd comfort myself by ordering some maran hatching eggs from Wernlas for delivery whenever they became available again.

No more Wernlas.

Is there a list of recommended breeders for French maran hatching eggs that will be fertile and healthy? Don't want to buy off eBay?

Thanks.

You could try joining The Marans Club of Great Britain. They have a year book which includes the contact details for the members so you might find someone near to you that way, its only £6 and they have a couple of newsletters a year also, plus if you show and win a prize you can apply for a Marans Club rosette :D .

All the best

Sue

I have recently hatched some Maran eggs with good success and they are beautiful birds. I got a mix of Maran eggs ie Splash, Copper Blue, Black from http://cheshirepoultry.co.uk/french_copper_blue_marans.html who are members of the Maran Club. Have a look at their site to see the different types available. You can have a mix of the colours you want if you speak to Steve there, rather than ordering on-line.

It is best now to wait until about early spring next year. Now that's something to look forward to! :D
