House MD 221B
until someone more knowledgeable than myself comes along, Redwing just said in one of my threads, that for pure breeds that vaccination isn't such a worry, it's more with hybrids that are bred more industrially. and looking on their web site quite a few are pure breeds. However I notice that the Silkies don't have (Pure) next to them. best bet would be to contact them I would think. Hope this is of some use to you. Good luck. memphisto
I enquired a while back about silver laced wyandottes from there and the chap was really helpful, they didn't have any for sale at the time but he was very knowledgable and helpful, they do have beautiful breeds listed. I'd give him a call in the morning to have a chat, any breeder should be able to guide you through how they look after their birds, whether you are buying or not. Redwing
Give Steve a ring and ask him, he is very helpful I know that some of Steve's Silkie stock came from Tinson and Hidden lines so they should be very nice Silkies, I dont know if he vaccinates them though Most pure bred breeders do not vaccinate as they believe in a naturally robust resistant flock. The problem with Silkies is that they can be prone to Mareks disease so that would be the most important vaccination should you be specifically looking for vaccinated stock More important to me would be the reaction to a question about vaccination, if a breeder can give you a firm confident answer on their reasons for/against vaccination and know the history of their flock then that counts for an awful lot They are a sound set up though, Steve is knowledgable and looks after his birds
