Minty_76
Hi everyone Just wondering if anyone has been through this with their bun. Any advice/experiences would be gratefully received.
lillybettybabs
I have had causes but fortunately i notice it early, Tooth problems, over grooming (hairballs) or not enough fibre seems to be some of the causes. The most crucial thing is to get the gut flowing as quickly as possible. This is normally and injection by the vets and syringe feeding ground up food and a solution called Bio Lapis. Chucky Mama
You can feed Protexin Fiberplex paste "Fibreplex is a carrot flavoured, high fibre paste that is quick to work, delivering a concentrated dose of fibre to help return movement to the hindgut. Fibreplex also contains probiotics". In the longer term your rabbit may benefit from regular Protexin Profibre which again contains fibre and probiotics. Biolapis is good for maintaining rabbits during illness
lillybettybabs
Fibreplex is sometimes a little hard to administer, i have it as a first instance treatment but as rabbit can go downhill rapidly with statis i always advise seeing a vet as soon as possible. Minty_76
Thanks all. My bunny was ill over the weekend and he was at the vets first thing Monday. Fortunately he is improving and eating for himself now. Think it will be a long process but he's going the right way.
lillybettybabs
I'm pleased you took him to a vet, fingers crossed he will get better soon. Keep listening to his tummy for gurgles, this is a sign that things are restoring to normal. If you need some support PM me i have gone through stasis with a couple of my bunnies and know it's a worrying time.
