nutterly_uts
Hi everyone Been a while since I posted on here! I have an empty Eglu that for various reasons I can't fill with Chickens again currently. It seems a shame to have it sitting empty, and I don't want to sell it (been there, sold my lovely red one, regretted it and now have a purple one..!) and so I wondered if I'd be mad to make it into an outside cat den for my cats for the winter? I can put the run in the shed and I don't think it would lead to them causing problems in the future? Has anyone done this? Good idea or bad? lillybettybabs
I'm thinking of doing the same for when Foggy is older, My thoughts were to take the roosting bars out and put a fleecy blankets in that area with a water bowl in the egg laying bit. I'm not going to leave food out as i think it will encourage other cats and mice etc. I just been for him to shelter if we are out. As we have house rabbits i don't trust any cat flap enough not to let any cat in.
dancing cloud
I'm sure your cats would love it, especially if you can put something that smells of them and maybe a bit of catnip in to let them know it's theirs. My cats have katkabins, costing a small fortune and used occasionally but, since we moved, Cleo has instead opted to take over the . Four hens have to share (not much of a hardship really) whilst the furry football occupies their other house. She doesn't seem to share it with the other cats though and I'm certainly not going to buy them one each !
Chicken shack
You could put a heat pad in there. I wouldn't put the water inside incase it gets knocked over. A bowl of water out side would be better. Cats always drink out of muddy pudles anyway.
