cd8jbr
Hi everybody Just over 5 weeks ago I got my five ex-battery hens who are now (despite some bullying while sorting out their pecking order) nicely settled, getting their feathers back and generally looking like healthy happy hens - and I love them to bits! My reason for posting is that I received an email from the British Hen Welfare Trust asking for homes for more hens as due to the change in legislation to improve the living conditions of 'battery' hens there will be many, many hens needing new homes in December. So if there are any (and I'm sure there will be) any kind hearted people who can give some of these lovely girls a home....contact the BHWT on www.bhwt.org.uk. I'm sure you won't regret it. My five girls are still laying between 3-5 eggs every day despite needing to put on weight and re-grow feathers and I'd have more in a heartbeat but I just don't have the facilities. Cheers and thanks for listening! Jill
Lewis
Glad to hear your girls are settling in! There are a couple threads running about this, hopefully lots of Ex Batts will be rehomed this month I heard 14 million hens need to cleared out their cages before the cage ban at the start of next year!
