Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Hi since moulting I've noticed a lot of flaking skin (well I think that's what it is) in the nest box in the morning (they sleep there and have given up stopping them!) It is from Ebay a white Leghorn, I know this as when she flaps her wings you can see the same stuff comes off. I've checked for mites, scaley legs and she seems fine. Is there a supplement I could give her - and what do you think it is?

Hi, i am no expert but i think this is perfectly normal. Some of my girls are moulting at the moment and i am finding the same in my cubes. If you want to give her a boost you could try giving a tonic such as lifeguard. Hope this helps, try not to worry!

Okay that's good to know thank you. She actually looks much better than she has since she was 'new' as before the moult she was really grubby.

If you look closely, you will see that the new feathers coming through have a papery casing on them. As the new feathers grow, they shed the casing which is the delightful dandruffy stuff you are finding in the nest box. All perfectly normal! Once all the new feathers are fully grown through, the dandruff will miraculously disappear

I had that too & had a real panic until I asked on here and was told about chicken dandruff !
