Hi, been reading all your posts on here. What's the best way to make porridge from layers pellets or mash?

 

This year is the first winter I'll have had chooks, they were in the garage from February when they arrived, so want to give them some extra warmth in the mornings when I let them out....

Either will do, just add hot water. Other additives such as cod liver oil and seaweed can be beneficial but avoid human/processed food

My son would eat Porridge morning noon and night if he could get away with it, (made with oats not chicken feed). So we always have a large supply.

I give my girls some as a treat in the summer mixed up with pro-biotic yoghurt, which they looovve.

they have had their first warmed up version Sunday, made in the microwave with water, then topped off with cold water to cool it down with sultanas and apple chopped into it.

It didn't last very long I think you could say they liked it.

Havent tried making it with layers pellets, they do seem to enjoy sloppy food though as a treat, left over mashed potatoes with chopped up veg pieces being another favourite.

Have even got the Dog on porridge oats now, he has colitis so have to be very careful what we give him.
