Heathers Hens
Hello Hetty and Hilda I've got a blackrock who hasn't laid an egg since the end of October either - at the time our columbian blacktail also stopped for about a week, and we thought that they might have had a fright, however she started laying again but to be honest she isn't laying every day now, more like a couple of times a week. We also added four bantams to the flock and although a couple of them were point of lay, we've had no more than a couple of eggs from them and then nothing since the days became so short. I've asked a friend who has kept chickens for years, and the general consensus is that they'll start laying again in the spring, so I've given up worrying about it! Hope this helps
Mum
Short answer: no, you should not be worried Frustrated? Yuppers, but not worried Shorter daylight hours will affect their egg production. However, we have passed the Winter Solstice now and the only way is "up" Patience is key right now (even though I know how bliddy frustrating this can be!) Purplemaniacs
Lots of mine have moulted and stopped laying, they are now looking good so hopefully that combined with the days starting to get longer they will produce some eggs soon. Not happy as I am buying eggs again. Chrissie
